December already!

Started out with our November snow melting in town but now there's "big" snow falling in the Alps. Many ski resorts ("stations" in the local lingua) plan to open Saturday. The Glühwein should be nice and spicy by then. Here's to an excellent winter season. Santé!

Not ready for the slopes? Join me at the Montreux Noël, an entire region of holiday celebrations with markets, culinary delights and even Santa who will meet you on the top of an Alp.

At the Montreux Noël start out by nibbling some Swiss dried meats, then share a fondue along with "un verre de blanc" (from the nearby UNESCO site Lavaux Vineyards). Desserts will be easy (or difficult to decide) with such an enormous variety of sweets.

Can't make it to Switzerland in December? Wait until the month of love and snuggle in Zermatt under the Matterhorn.
